LIFE IN THE CITY:
And how to make it even better
A Thought Leader Series event with the Hon Angus Taylor MP
Join us for our Thought Leader Series event with the Hon. Angus Taylor MP, Assistant Minister for Cities and Digital Transformation.
Australia’s middle class has been feeling the squeeze in recent years. Are population pressures to blame, as some would argue? How will we ensure our cities keep up and our industries thrive? How will we give our children and grandchildren more opportunity than we had?
Angus Taylor, who describes his politics as "a fusion between Burke and Mill”, brings considerable life and work experience to the Cities and Digital Transformation portfolio. Author of the MRC's fourth R.G. Menzies Essay The Promise of Digital Government, Taylor was a Sydney University medallist with first class honours in economics and law, and a Rhodes Scholar who did his master’s degree at Oxford’s New College. Highly successful in business and “scientific farming", Taylor is also a great believer in free enterprise and an anti-monopolies campaigner. His 1993 Oxford thesis used game theory to argue that small English pubs should be protected from the major brewers by limiting the number of hotels they could tie up to supply their beer.
The Menzies Research Centre hosts occasional Thought Leadership events as timely contributions to policy discussion by leading Australian and international thinkers. Sign up as a subscriber today to take advantage of discounts to future Thought Leadership events.
